NFL: Sherman shoots against Seahawks coach

The farewell of Richard Sherman from Seattle obviously still hangs after the cornerback. Sherman, who was dismissed by the Seahawks after his Achilles tendon rupture and in view of the expensive contract, now shot at Hawks coach Pete Carroll.

As a guest on the TomaHawk podcast, which is operated by ex-Browns tackle Joe Thomas and ex-Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins, Sherman explained that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was partly to blame for the departure of Cornerback and the general upheaval.

“His philosophy is more suited to college,” Sherman said,”You get four years to spin,” and after all these years, all the players in Seattle would have heard any motivating speech from Carroll just like”any entertaining anecdote. We have all heard them – in the truest sense of the word. We were able to recite them before he even got started. I think that was one factor.”

The 29-year-old also stressed that Seattle had taken the wrong path when dealing with its players:”I think they have gone a little off their own path when we talk about how they see players and how they value them. The team’s pillars are less valued, you’re curious about the younger players and the unknown.”

So the philosophy is to say’Maybe he’s the next star’ instead of saying’Hey, we have in our Secondary Hall-of-Fame-talent – how about we take advantage of that?’ It would be like if Pittsburgh had said to himself:’Troy Polamalu is great, but let’s find out what the player behind him is capable of'”.

Sherman decided to join the San Francisco 49ers shortly after his release in Seattle, which guarantees him – as Seattle Division opponent – two games a year against his former team.
