NBA: Kanter criticises Tanking: “Should they develop in the G-League?

Enes Kanter of the New York Knicks has been very critical of the tanking strategy. For him, victories are in the foreground, not the development of young players.

“It’s about winning games,” Kanter told ESPN:”This team pays us a lot of money and the fans pay a lot of money to watch us play. You don’t come here to say,’Oh, this player is improving and evolving.'”

“I think that’s the way we should think,” he added,”The young players should develop in the G-League.”

Kanter is thus taking the same line as Dirk Nowitzki, who has also criticised the tanking strategy.

With the Knicks, the Turkish center currently plays 14.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
