The Norwegian Johannes Hösflot Kläbo (21) won the overall World Cup as the youngest cross-country skier in history. The three-time Olympic champion from Pyeongchang was satisfied with a 25th place in the final 15 km freestyle pursuit race in Falun, Sweden, on Sunday. Space to secure the large crystal ball for the first time. Kläbo replaced the Swede Gunde Svan as the age record holder, who had triumphed in 1983/84 at the age of 22.
The sovereign winner on Sunday was the Russian Alexander Bolshounov, who had celebrated his first victory in the World Cup the day before in classic style over 15 km. Second place went to Canadian Alex Harvey (+47.1 seconds) ahead of the Swiss Dario Cologna (+47.5), who finished second overall in the World Cup. Best German was Thomas Bing on rank 35 (+3:04,1 minutes)
Kläbo, who still needed one point to win the World Cup, won ten races and the Ruka triple in the past season. Only his compatriot Martin Johnsrud Sundby (14/2015/16) was more successful in one winter. Kläbo’s seven sprint victories were a new record.
