NFL: Marshawn Lynch stays with the Oakland Raiders

With Doug Martin’s appointment at the latest, the signs between Marshawn Lynch and the Oakland Raiders and the new head coach Jon Gruden seemed to be goodbye. But obviously this is not the case: Beast Mode should remain a Raider.

This is what NFL network insider Ian Rapoport learned from internal sources. The team confirms this announcement, at least financially: Lynch’s $1 million management bonus is due this Sunday. As Rapoport reports, Lynch will continue to play in Oakland next season.

In total, the Running Back will collect 5.9 million dollars in 2018 and should therefore share the backfield with Doug Martin. Martin was dismissed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a disappointing season, his big problem is and remains a massive inconsistency.

In addition to Martin and Lynch, the Raiders, who also signed ex-Packers receiver Jordy Nelson during the week, have Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Elijah Hood as well as fullback Jamize Olawale in their squad.

Lynch, who was once again one of the best contact runners in the pre-season and recorded 4.3 yards per run (891 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns), should be the number one back today.
