Cycling: Tour of Catalonia: Valverde takes overall lead again

Titleholder Alejandro Valverde of Team Movistar has completed the fourth stage of the 98. Catalonia round trip won and after only one day again the overall guidance with the seven-day round trip taken over

After 170.8 km from Llanars to La Molina, the 37-year-old Spaniard prevailed in front of Egan Bernal (Team Sky) and his team mate Nairo Quintana on Thursday.

After Belgian Thomas de Gendt of Team Lotto-Soudal slipped into the lead jersey the day before with his escape victory, Valverde regained the white jersey in his seventh victory of the season.

In the overall standings he is now 19 seconds ahead of Bernal, Quintana follows in third place with a 26-second gap.
