Handball: Flensburg flops – foxes pass by

The SG Flensburg-Handewitt has failed in the championship race of the German Handball League after six victories in a row. In the top match at SC Magdeburg the guests lost 23:29 (12:12) and are with 40:12 points only third behind the German champion Rhein-Neckar Löwen (42:6) and the Füchse Berlin (40:10), who won 40:31 (23:15) against GWD Minden in the evening.

The Lions have played one game less than Berlin and even two games less than Flensburg. In the third game of the day, TBV Lemgo won 29:27 (18:14) against former champion VfL Gummersbach.

Flensburg initially kept the game open for former Champions League winner Magdeburg, but fell five goals behind in the second half (19:24/51. minute). The Magdeburg team around their best caster Matthias Musche (eight goals) did not let the guests come any closer and passed the surprise team TSV Hannover-Burgdorf (37:13) with 38:14 points. Magdeburg is the new fourth. Hans Lindberg scored ten goals for the Berliner.
