NBA: Dirk: “That takes away motivation in between”

Dirk Nowitzki has admitted that the sporting situation of the Dallas Mavericks has certainly influenced his motivation. He also talked about his future, health and Maxi Kleber in an interview.

Asked whether he would still play in the coming season, Dirk Nowitzki told Funke Sport in an interview: “I hope that will work out. I’ll definitely try. Of course, it depends on how and whether my body participates. Sometimes it is very difficult for me to get up. “But I only missed one game this season and I feel basically good.”

Things are currently not going so well for the Texans, who are ranked 13th in the West with a score of 22-49. This is “very difficult” for the Dirkster and “robs in between also the motivation”.

However, the focus is now on fun: “I try to enjoy the little things. “Of course I’d like to play for the title again, but the situation here is different.”

The 39-year-old also talked about his German team mate Maxi Kleber: “He has developed very well, even though he had a few lows in addition to the highs. “He’s a good defender, brings us a lot of energy and keeps working on himself.”

The fact that he breaks one record after the other and climbs in various all-time rankings of the NBA was assessed soberly by Nowitzki. He has simply been in the league for a very long time and had to fight with only a few injuries.
