Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier (Partenkirchen) once again showed her class at the World Cup finale in the Russian Tyumen. The 24-year-old took a strong third place in the pursuit race over 10 km behind Kaisa Mäkäräinen (Finland) and Anais Bescond (France). This was Dahlmeier’s seventh podium finish of the winter.
Anastasiya Kuzmina (Slovakia) took sixth place to secure the small crystal ball in the Pursuit World Cup. Dahlmeier came in second. Kuzmina had already won the sprint classification.
In the fight for the overall World Cup before the final race on Sunday (mass start 12.5 km) it remains extremely exciting. Mäkäräinen, Kuzmina and Darja Domratschewa (Belarus) still have a chance. For Dahlmeier it’s still about the small crystal ball in the mass start. It is tied on points with Mäkäräinen.
Franziska Preuß (Haag) finished tenth in the pursuit on Saturday, Nadine Horchler (Willingen) twelfth. Denise Herrmann (Oberwiesenthal), Vanessa Hinz (Schliersee) and Franziska Hildebrand (Clausthal-Zellerfeld) had to be content with positions 27, 28 and 29. Maren Hammerschmidt (Winterberg) was 38th.
