NBA: Dirk Nowitzki: “I won’t be a car salesman”

Dirk Nowitzki wants to stay in basketball after the end of his career: “I won’t be a car salesman,” joked the superstar of NBA club Dallas Mavericks in an interview with the news magazine Der Spiegel: “Sport has always been my great love. “I’d like to return some of that.”

Nowitzki stressed again that he will probably not stop this year: “If the season continues as before, and the body plays along to some extent, I wouldn’t know why I shouldn’t continue. I am confident that I will play next season,” said the man from Würzburg.

When I come back next season, it will probably be my last year,” said Nowitzki (39), but on the other hand said: “If things go the same way next year – who knows, maybe I’ll come back at 41”.

Nowitzki wants to meet with his family this summer: “Our eldest will start school next year and I’ve already missed so much,” said the 2011 NBA champion. With a view to saying goodbye to the basketball stage, he is especially looking forward to the “freedom to do what I want. “I haven’t been allowed to ski for 20 years.”
