MLB: Record deal for young star: Kingery extends at Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies have extended their contract with their talent Scott Kingery. This was announced by the team on Sunday.

Kingery signed a contract until 2023 at record conditions for a player who has never played in the majors before.

According to journalist Matt Gelb, the 23-year-old will receive a bonus of more than $1.5 million just for his signature.

The salary will increase from $750,000 this season to $8 million by 2023.

The club also secured three extension options for the years 2024 to 2026.
