Ski Jumping: Stoch wins again in Planica – Friday sixth final

The German ski jumpers clearly missed the podium in the last competition of a long season. At the World Cup final at the ski jump in Planica, Slovenia, Richard Freitag came sixth as the best DSV eagle. The victory and the crowning of an outstanding winter was secured by Kamil Stoch from Poland, who was already the winner of the overall World Cup.

Exactly 128 days after the start last autumn in Wisla/Poland and five days after the meteorological start of spring, Four Hills Tournament winner Stoch prevailed with flights to 245.0 and 234.5 m (455.6 points). It was Stoch’s tenth victory of the season and his 31st. success of his career. He had already won the first single flight in Planica on Friday.

Austria’s world record holder Stefan Kraft (440.1) came second. For the first time in 17 years, the former ski-jumping nation was without a win of the season. Norway’s ski flying world champion Daniel Andre Tande (439.6) came third. His compatriot Andreas Stjernen secured victory in the Ski Flying World Cup with fifth place.

Behind the overall World Cup second Friday, who had led the DSV-Adler to second place behind Norway in the team competition on Saturday and once again convinced with flights at 232.5 and 237.5 m, Karl Geiger was surprisingly the strong seventh second-best German.

The German record holder Markus Eisenbichler was twelfth. Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger, who missed the qualification for the first single flight on Friday, improved and finished 16th. Pius Paschke finished 28th, Stephan Leyhe came 30th.
