Boxing: Panel for Joshua vs.

Boxing of the extra class is on the program! On Saturday there will be a heavyweight World Championship fight between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker (22.45 LIVE on DAZN) in Cardiff. Who will win the fight and why? Will Joshua dominate heavyweight boxing for years? SPOX discusses in the panel with DAZN commentator Jan Platte, Attila Revada (Editor-in-Chief German Fight News), Elias Stefanescu (Editor-in-Chief Ground and Pound) and SPOX editor Felix Götz.

Attila Revada: Joshua is more intelligent and above all more talented, but Wilder is a real ramp sow who can turn the ring into a battlefield. In short, no! Also because there will be one or two more fighters, who at the moment only have experts on the piece of paper.

Elias Stefanescu: The statement is risky, because I think that Deontay Wilder is exactly the opponent who has the greatest potential to defeat Joshua, because of his unorthodox style. The Bronze Bomber did not look perfect in his last fight. He showed weaknesses, but at the same time he showed a huge fighting heart. In his last duel against Carlos Takam, Joshua did not exactly cover himself with glory either. The fight between the two knockout machines must finally follow. The winner will rule heavyweight boxing for the time being.

Jan Platte: Unlike Attila and Elias, I agree with this thesis. That’s because Joshua has an incredible energy and he also brings the most of all the heavyweight fighters in the package for me. Joshua is also willing to learn, has a good humble way of doing things and knows exactly what he needs to work on and where he needs to improve. For me he is the dominant figure – also in his appearance. In terms of self-confidence Wilder AJ is in no way inferior, but in terms of boxing he is even more limited. Joshua, on the other hand, is simply a natural. And for someone who has come so late for boxing, he’s also boxing really well. He has also boxed big people – like Klitschko, for example. I trust Joshua above all to remain this dominant figure, because he simply has the best package of all with impact hardness, sensitivity and agility.

Felix Götz: I am completely with Jan on this thesis. And in addition to these strengths, which Joshua and Wilder undoubtedly have, would also pay special attention to the personality. Joshua’s clear head, which he has long after a complicated past, will help him enormously in the future. That’s why he’s no less self-confident than Wilder, who lets the mouth hero hang out more often. We all know how fine the line is between healthy self-confidence and arrogance that leads to unhealthy arrogance. Let me remind you of the following quote from Wilder: “I will certainly outshine Floyd Mayweather” Joshua is better placed than Wilder to pursue a great long-term career.
