NBA: Prospect Porter wants to register for the draft

College Freshman Michael Porter Jr. has announced its intention to participate in the NBA Draft 2018. The forward from Missouri is considered a safe lottery pick and may be among the top five.

The 19-year-old announced his decision via Instagram on Monday: “After talking to my family and coaches, I would like to announce that I will register for the NBA Draft 2018”.

This decision came as no surprise, but it is also risky. The forward only played 53 minutes for Missouri throughout the season due to a serious back injury. After injuring himself in his first game at college, there were rumors that Porter Jr. would not play in the season, but the forward returned in the final spurt and played one game each in both the SEC and NCAA tournaments.

Porter was even a candidate for the top pick before his injury. According to information from ESPN, however, the Freshman should still be among the top ten. The decisive factor will be what Porter’s medical reports are.
