Golf: “Ridiculous!” Kaymer eaten after round two

Martin Kaymer, Bernhard Langer and Tiger Woods have made the cut at the US Masters at Augusta National Golf Club (NOW at LIVETICKER). After two of four rounds the American Patrick Reed is leading the first major tournament of the year.

Kaymer (+3) showed a slight improvement and played a 73 on Magnolia Lane after his 74 at the start of the second round. 33-year-old, who double bogeied twice, climbed up seven places to the divided 35th place with a total of 147 strokes.

Kaymer was annoyed about his flight partner Zach Johnson after the lap on the par 72 course. In contrast to Golf Post, the two-time major champion described the American’s slow play as “ridiculous”.

Meanwhile, Langer (+4) had to fight hard not to get out of the tournament prematurely. The 60-year-old returned to the clubhouse with a 74, just like after the first round, and finished 40th on equal terms with Woods with 148 strokes.

For the superstar of the scene (a total of 148 strokes) it ran with a 75 on the second day mau. “Six months ago I wasn’t even sure if I would ever play professionally again,” Woods said: “It’s incredible for me to have this opportunity again.

While the Austrian Bernd Wiesberger (-1) is in 14th place, Reed (135 strokes) leads the field. The Australian Marc Leishman (137 strokes) and the Swede Henrik Stenson (139) are breathing down his neck. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Jordan Spieth (USA) follow in fourth place with 140 strokes each.

Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson had a very bitter time. The defending champion from Spain missed the cut with a total of 159 strokes and 82nd place. Mickelson, who had started promisingly with a 70 lap at the start, collapsed completely, played a 79 and dropped 35 places back to the divided 46th place.
