MLB: Reds dismiss manager Bryan Price after 3-15 start

The Cincinnati Reds have parted company with Manager Bryan Price with immediate effect. Pitching coach Mack Jenkins also has to take his hat off. Jim Riggleman steps in as interim manager. The Reds are reacting to the 3-15 start into the new season.

Price has been in office since October 22, 2013 and became the 61st manager in the history of Cincinnati Reds, succeeding Dusty Baker.

During his term of office, he achieved a record of 276-372, which corresponds to a victory rate of 42.6 percent. Prior to his time as a manager, Price was pitching coach of the Reds from 2010 to 2013. Price also worked in the same position for the Seattle Mariners (2000-2006) and Arizona Diamondbacks (2007-2009).

Riggleman was the Reds Bench Coach from 2015 until this season. However, he also brings experience as a manager, having already supervised four different teams. His last manager position so far was with the Washington Nationals from 2009 to 2011.

New Bench Coach will be Pat Kelly, who last worked as manager for Triple-A Louisville, while Double-A pitching coach Danny Darwin will join the MLB team in the same role.

The Reds also said they will start an extensive manager search later this year to find a long-term successor for Price.
