NFL: Dallas Cowboys dismissed Wide Receiver Dec Bryant

The Dallas Cowboys have fired Wide Receiver Dez Bryant. This is reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. That makes 29-year-old Bryant a free agent.

After a meeting between Bryant and cowboy owner Jerry Jones on Friday, in which both parties discussed the contractual situation of the passport holder, the decision seems to have been taken quickly: Bryant can find himself a new team.

The cut saves the cowboys a lot of money and makes them more flexible in terms of salary cap: Bryant was in the cowboy books for 2018 with a cap hit of 16.5 million dollars. His release will save Dallas $8.5 million. Bryants Cap Hit 2019 also amounted to $16.5 million.

“It wasn’t an easy decision,” Jones stressed in a statement. “We’ve done what we think is in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys.” He has a very good relationship with Bryant, even personally. Bryant will always be a valued member of the cowboy family.

Bryant explained on Twitter that it was not his decision.

Bryant had reduced his sport considerably in recent years: his last 1,000-yard season was 2014, his last 100-yard game he managed in the playoff match against Green Bay on January 15, 2017.

The Cowboys were active in the Free Agency position and have strengthened their receiver corps with Allen Hurns. Without Bryant you can call up Hurns, Terrance Williams, Deonte Thompson, Cole Beasley and Ryan Switzer.
