Winter Sports: Mario Stecher takes over as Sports Director from Ernst Vettori

The ÖSV has appointed Mario Stecher as new Sporty Leider for Jumping and Nordic Combined. The 40-year-old native Styrian succeeds Ernst Vettori, the ski association announced on Tuesday at a press conference in Innsbruck. Vettori had long felt that he wanted to “change”, said ÖSV President Peter Schröcksnadel.

“I want to give a clear line – down to the next generation,” said the engraver, who was also present at the press conference. Clearly, “mistakes have been made” in the jumpers’ sector, said Stecher with regard to the poor performance of the domestic eagles last season.

In recent years, Stecher has worked at ORF as an expert in the broadcasting of the Nordic combined competitions. Earlier, Heinz Kuttin’s resignation as jump coach had already been announced in Innsbruck.
