MLB: Lothar Matthäus visits Philadelphia Phillies on US promo tour

The Philadelphia Phillies were visited on Thursday by none other than football legend Lothar Matthäus. Loddar couldn’t resist swinging the bat himself.

The German record international (150 caps) is currently on a promotional tour of the USA for FC Bayern Munich for next summer’s International Champions Cup matches.

On Thursday the trip took him to Philadelphia/Pennsylvania, where he visited the Philadelphia Phillies. In addition to a few punching exercises in Citizens Bank Park, he also went into the team’s cabin, where he exchanged views with the players.

As usual during such visits Matthäus also got his own Phillies jersey and of course also had a Bavarian jersey ready for the Phillies. The Latin American players in particular seemed visibly pleased with the appearance of the world-famous ex-footballer.

FC Bayern will play Juventus Turin in Philadelphia on 25 July – but then at Lincoln Financial Field, home of reigning Super Bowl winner Philadelphia Eagles.
