MLB: Yankees push Stanton down in the Batting Order

Manager Aaron Boone has put his thought game into action and put Giancarlo Stanton down in the Batting Order of the New York Yankees. However, the superstar did not fall very deeply.

After Stanton had been left without a hit even against his ex-team, the Miami Marlins, at the beginning of the week, Boone hinted at changing his order of driving. On Thursday he put this into action. Against the Toronto Blue Jays (4:3 Yankees), Stanton beat them in fourth place as Designated Hitter. In the previous 16 games, Stanton was always on the 3 ball.

As cleanup hitter he managed an RBI infield single and a walk after eight pitches. Overall he was 1-3 in the game. Instead of him, however, shortstop Didi Gregorius hit on position 3.

“A good, positive step for him to run for a single and then finish this walk,” Boone told reporters. “He checked his at-bat’s tonight, he checked the strike zone and hopefully that’s a positive step for him.”

But Boone Stanton won’t let him beat at the 4 ball for long: “No, I’m not prepared to push him down in the batting or.” His motivation for the move on Thursday was that the Blue Jays had a right-handed starter in Aaron Sanchez and a mainly right-handed bullpen.
