NBA: Pistons ask van Gundy for a report

Stan van Gundy, Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations at the Detroit Pistons, must address the franchise owner. It’s probably about the future of the 58-year-old.

As ESPN reports, Piston owner Tom Gores van Gundy has asked for an interview early next week. Then the future of the coach and team president will be discussed.

Van Gundy finished his fourth season in his double role with the Pistons. He only reached the playoffs once (2015/16). In the other three seasons his record was negative, with 152 victories and 176 defeats in Motor City.

His contract will run until 2019, but it currently seems questionable whether he will be allowed to continue. Much will probably depend on the conversation with the owner.

Should he be dropped, the Pistons would be the sixth team to look for a new Head Coch this summer. The other five are the Knicks, Magic, Hornets, Bucks and Suns.
