NBA: Suns: Budenholzer probably no longer an issue

Mike Budenholzer will not be the new head coach of the Phoenix Suns, according to media reports. The 48-year-old, who is still employed by the Hawks, could not reach an agreement with the franchise during an interview.

This is reported by ESPN. According to the report, Budenholzer met with Suns GM Ryan McDonough and owner Robert Sarver, but an agreement was not in sight. That’s why an engagement of the current Hawks coach in Arizona is off the table.

Budenholzer had received permission from the Hawks to negotiate with the Suns. He may also contact other franchises who are looking for a head coach. He should probably not be satisfied with the rebuilding process in Atlanta.

Meanwhile, the Suns have more candidates on their wish list. These include Steve Clifford, Kevin McHale, Frank Vogel and David Blatt. Jay Triano, who took over Earl Watson on an interim basis at the beginning of the season after his early dismissal, can also look forward to a lasting commitment.
