Ricky Rubio played a great match between the Utah Jazz and the OKC Thunder in game 3 of the series and played a triple double. Russell Westbrook then promised that this would not happen again.
At the post-match press conference, Westbrook was asked about the performance of Rubio, who played 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the Jazz 115:102 victory. “He hit a few shots,” Westbrook said unimpressed. “He was too comfortable. I’m gonna end this shit in the next game. I guarantee it.”
Rubio, in turn, explained his performance explosion in Game 3 as follows: “I simply changed my mentality and tried to be more aggressive,” said the Spaniard. “I hit a few shots and then I just had a run. It helps when you hit. It just feels good.”
Rubio’s performance became the first jazz player since John Stockton in 2001 to play a triple double in the playoffs. “Seeing my name even next to his is an honor. I don’t know what else to say. That’s great. I have great respect for him,” said the Point Guard.
Westbrook, on the other hand, has recently been noticeably weaker in the series. In game 3 he scored 14 points, in the series he has only scored 36.1 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from the triple line. The 2017 MVP was asked if everything was okay with him, to which he replied: “There’s a lot of shit going on with my body. However, Westbrook did not want to say whether it was a certain injury.
