MLB: Danny Farquhar continues to make progress after brain surgery

Pitcher Danny Farquhar of the Chicago White Sox continues to make progress after his surgery due to an aneurysm in the brain. The relief had collapsed during a game last week.

In a team statement, the White Sox said that Farquhar could move arms and legs, respond to questions and instructions, and talk to doctors and his family. He was still in a critical but “neurologically stable” state.

“We are simply happy that he is moving in the right direction,” said manager Rick Renteria on Monday. “It is good to know that he is able to move and speak and that his family is with him. And he knows everyone thinks of him. We are moving in the right direction and are cautiously optimistic that things will turn out well.”

Farquhar collapsed in the White Sox versus the Houston Astros in the Dugout on Friday and had to be taken to the hospital where he remains. He will probably have to spend a few more weeks in the clinic.
