NFL: Rob Gronkowski officially confirms he’s moving on

Rob Gronkowski will continue to play for the New England Patriots in 2018. After months of speculation, the superstar tight-end on Instagram announced that he had met with head coach Bill Belichick and would continue.

Gronkowski and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, met with Belichick on Tuesday and told him that the tight end will not resign. “It was very positive and Rob is fully committed,” Rosenhaus told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter also reported that Gronkowski is not traded based on a source.

Gronkowski, who recently attracted attention through questionable PR appointments and social media posts, then also announced his decision in style on Instagram: “I met with the coach today and informed him that I will return to the Patriots for the 2018 season. I’ve been training, kept in shape and feel great. I’m looking forward to another championship run.”

Last year Gronkowski led the Patriots with 69 receptions. He also scored 1084 yards and eight touchdowns, although he had missed two games. He was then elected Pro Bowl and All-Pro.

All around Super Bowl LII there were rumours of a possible resignation of Gronkovski, who said to reporters shortly after the Philadlephia Eagles bankruptcy: “I don’t know how they heard about it, but I mean I will definitely look to my future”. And Gronk added: “I’ll sit back in the next few weeks and see what happens next.”

Gronkowski suffered numerous serious injuries during his career and has already undergone three back operations. In addition, interventions at the knee and elbow were added. In the AFC Championship Game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he also suffered a concussion not for the first time in his career.
