MLB: Ronald Acuna hits first home run for the Atlanta Braves

Ronald Acuna hit his first home run in the MLB on Thursday. The top prospect of the Atlanta Braves (14-10) scored a long ball against the starter of the Cincinnati Reds (5-20), Homer Bailey in the second inning at Great American Ball Park.

The 20-year-old only made his MLB debut on Monday when the Braves ordered him up from the Minor Leagues. Acuna was only one triple short of the cycle after a double followed his home run, beating 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs.

“This is a unique moment,” said Acuna, who is the youngest Braves player since Andruw Joney hit a home run in August 1997. After his stroke, Acuna’s teammates initially deliberately ignored the rookie in the Dugout, but after some imaginary high five they celebrated their youngster extensively.

The Braves beat the Reds 7-4 after Ozziel Albies also hit a long ball. Acuna and Albies are the youngest players of the MLB ever.
