NBA: Media: Bickerstaff becomes Grizzlies coach

According to media reports, J.B. Bickerstaff will be the permanent head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. Before that, he had already trained the team on an interim basis.

This is reported by ESPN. The Grizzlies and the coach have agreed on a three-year contract.

Bickerstaff was head coach for the last 63 games of Memphis’ Regular Season. He was initially introduced as an interim coach after David Fizdale was dismissed early in the season.

Bickerstaff came in at 15-48, but is said to have impressed the management with how he guided the team through a very difficult season with many injuries.

The 39-year-old already has head coach experience: in 2015 he trained the Houston Rockets as such after they dismissed Kevin McHale. There he achieved a balance of 37-34.
