NFL: Colts: Offers for Andrew Luck “not taken seriously”

The Indianapolis Colts have received offers for quarterback Andrew Luck – but they refused. Luck has not played since the 2016 season due to injury, it is unclear when he can play again. Other teams obviously wanted to take advantage of this fact.

Colts CEO Chris Ballard confirmed on the side of the drag on the team website that there were “some inquiries” just before last November’s trade deadline: “But come on. We don’t take them seriously. We’re not trading Andrew Luck. I’m not putting that on my resume.”

Team owner Jim Irsay had told reporters a few hours earlier that Indy hadn’t been tempted by the “high offers” received for Luck either.

“Believe me, people have made an historic amount of draft picks. We didn’t even think about going in that direction,” Irsay stressed. “He’s our guy. We are 100 percent confident that he will return and lead this team.”

After his protracted shoulder injury, Luck is still in rehab. In early February, Ballard finally announced that the quarterback did not need any further surgery. At the beginning of April, however, Luck declared that he is not yet allowed to throw a real football: “When the time comes, I’ll take him in my hand. I don’t feel perfect right now.”
