MLB: Cardinals replace Closer – Norris takes over for Holland

The St. Louis Cardinals change their closers: Greg Holland is dismissed and Bud Norris takes over the role in the ninth inning.

“I don’t think he’ll be in the ninth inning anytime soon,” said President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak on Tuesday.

Holland, which was still working for the Colorado Rockies last year and signed a one-year contract for 14 million dollars in St. Louis, has so far achieved a 7.36 ERA in ten missions. He also has a blown save in his account.

Norris, who also came to St. Louis during the off-season and was awarded a three-million contract, will initially take over. Norris managed five saves with a 2.03 ERA so far. He also scored 20 strikeouts over 13 1/3 innings (2 BB) for the cardinals.

Since Holland was only engaged late, he had no essential jumping training and was already appointed to the MLB squad after two single-a-level assignments.
