The San Francisco Giants have put Starting Pitcher Johnny Cueto on the Disabled List. He suffers from an inflammation in the elbow. Things are better for left-handed Madison Bumgarner.
Cueto had already suffered an ankle injury at the beginning of the season. Until his current injury, he was 3-0 with an outstanding 0.84 ERA.
Bumgarner got the green light at the beginning of the week to start a litter program. The Giants’ Ace had broken her left hand in March and has been out of action ever since.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy explained on Tuesday that Bumgarner was again examined by hand specialist Dr. Donald Sheridan in Arizona on Tuesday. First, “MadBum” will now complete three to four units on flat ground before returning to the mound.
“He is a smart guy and he is no longer a child”, Bochy said about Bumgarner: “He knows that he must now consider this like another jumping training. “You can’t force that now, even if he wants to get back as soon as possible.”
Bumgarner sustained the injury in a jump training match against the Kansas City Royals. A Whit Merrifield line drive hit him right on the throwing hand, leading to a fracture of the little finger. At that time, a break of almost six weeks was assumed.
