MLB: Severino leads Yankees against Astros to second shutdown in a row

The New York Yankees (20-10) beat the Houston Astros (20-12) 4-0 and thus made their second shutout in a row. Starting pitcher Luis Severino provided a novelty, while Giancarlo Stanton was responsible for all runs.

On Tuesday the bull was still shining and did not allow the Astros a single run, on Wednesday Severino did it alone. The Ace of the Yankees pitched its first complete game Shutout ever. With 110 pitches he got 10 strikeouts and only allowed 5 hits and one walk.

Severino thus made his 20th start since the beginning of the 2017 season, in which he allowed one or no run. He’s leading the MLB alone.

“I wouldn’t want to face Severino in the Batter’s Box,” says Giancarlo Stanton about his pitcher colleague. “He’s hammering the strike zone at 100 miles per hour and if you wait for it and find the right timing, you’ll get his 90MPH slider. It was exactly what we needed today.”

Severino scored his fifth victory (5-1), leading the American League together with Clevelands Corey Kluber.
