NFL: Seahawks part with Cliff Avril

The Seattle Seahawks have split up with Defensive End Cliff Avril. The 32-year-old suffered a severe neck injury last year and failed the medical check.

Avril came to Seattle in 2013 as a free agent from the Detroit Lions, won the Super Bowl 48 and was nominated for the Pro Bowl in 2016.

“I’ve made friends for life here. You all supported my family, my foundation, and me the whole time, I couldn’t have asked for more,” wrote Avril in an Instagram post.

Avril would have become an unrestricted free agent in 2019. Now it is questionable whether he will ever return to a football field as a player after his neck injury.
