Ice Hockey World Cup: Austria lost World Cup opener against Switzerland

Austria’s national ice hockey team has started the A World Championship in Denmark with a defeat. On Saturday in Copenhagen, the ÖEHV team had to admit defeat to the favoured Switzerland 2:3 (0:1,1:1,1,1:0;0:1) after extra time.

Regular season goals were scored by Nino Niederreiter (19th) and Gaetan Haas (25th) and Dominic Zwerger (35th) and Manuel Ganahl (47th) respectively. Enzo Corvi ensured the success of the Swiss in the 4th minute of extra time, but the Austrians scored a point. Austria’s next opponent on Sunday (12.15 pm) is Olympic champion Russia.
