MLB: Chicago Cubs put Yu Darvish on Disabled List with flu

The Chicago Cubs have put Starting Pitcher Yu Darvish on the Disabled List. With the flu, the Japanese man will probably be out for a little more than a week.

It was actually planned that Darvish should start against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Who will replace him is still unclear.

Darvish signed a six-year contract worth 126 million dollars during the off-season, but has not yet found its way around Chicago. He’s 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA.

Also on Monday the Cubs brought relief pitcher Cory Mazzoni from Triple-A Iowa to the Big Leagues and sent Luke Farrell to the Minors. Farrell had handed in Dexter Fowler’s Walk-Off Homun against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday evening.

Darvish’s transfer to the DL is retroactive to last Friday, as he had last stood on the mound on Thursday. Whoever replaces him in the 25-player squad will be announced by the Cubs on Tuesday.
