NBA: James Borrego to head coach of Charlotte Hornets

Spurs assistant coach James Borrego will probably be the new head coach of the Charlotte Hornets. This is reported by ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Borrego has been Assistant Coach of San Antonio Spurs since 2015. Prior to that he was assistant at the New Orleans Pelicans and the Orlando Magic.

He also has experience as a responsible coach: In the 2014/15 Magic season he was interim coach for a total of 30 games after Jacque Vaughn was dismissed.

The Hornets fired former head coach Steve Clifford in April after five seasons and a total of 196-214.

Earlier, the Hornets had introduced their new General Manager Mitch Kupchak, who follows in Rich Cho’s footsteps.
