NBA: Simmons on Embiid: “We’ll soon have lots of rings on our hands”

The Philadelphia 76ers season ended with the Boston Celtics going bust in game 5. Nevertheless, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid were optimistic about the future. Just Simmons believes the Sixers championships can win.

“Me and Ben can do a lot better,” Embiid said at the post-match press conference. “When you see what we have already achieved, we have a great future ahead of us. After the game, Simmons came to me and showed me his hands. He was saying that there will soon be lots of rings.”

Nevertheless, Simmons was self-critical after the somewhat surprising end against the Celtics. “Actually, I’m not going on vacation right now,” the Australian admitted. “I had the feeling that I still had plenty of energy. I’m still learning, I’m just beginning.”

The Sixers won 52 games in the Regular Season, taking third place in the Eastern Conference. Just before the playoffs, the Sixers were really hot when they won 16 games in a row and effortlessly defeated the Miami Heat 4-1 in the first round.

Against Boston, however, Philadelphia fell short of expectations, as Embiid had to admit. “I have the feeling that more would have been possible,” explained the Cameroonian. “We have many talented guys, but we haven’t shown our best basketball. “When everyone calls on their services, we believe we are unbeatable.”

But this was not the case in the series against Boston, especially the many ball losses harmed the Sixers again and again. “We made too many mistakes on the show,” Embiid admitted bluntly. “We will have to learn from this.”

Instead, the Boston Celtics will now challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers around LeBron James in the Conference Finals. Game 1 of the series will be played live on SPOX and DAZN at 9.30 pm on Sunday.
