MLB: David Price rejects Fortnite as the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome

David Price has rejected allusions that the video game “Fortnite” is the cause of his recently diagnosed carpal tunnel syndrome. However, the left-hander admitted not to play it anymore if necessary.

“I used to play it with my teammates during the off-season, in the cabin, at the hotel,” Price told reporters. “This is, in a way, my generation. That’s what we do. But if I have to do without video games and look for a new hobby, then that’s the way it is. But I don’t think that’s why he has carpal tunnel syndrome.

Price has not pitched since May 3rd and missed his planned start on Wednesday against the Yankees with numbness in the throwing hand. After the diagnosis, however, he will be back in Toronto on Saturday.

Price last complained of swelling in his thumb, index and middle fingers. However, video games should not be the main reason for this: “This simply happened over time. That didn’t come from a particular thing.” The left-handed man continued: “I was born in 1985, this is the video game generation. “But since I joined the Red Sox, I haven’t had much time for video games since I played in the Big Leagues.”

Price threw about 40 pitches in a bullpen session on Thursday and then declared he was ready for Saturday. Meanwhile, his hand is treated with dry needles, a procedure similar to acupuncture.
