NBA: Casey thanks fans in an emotional letter

Dwane Casey said goodbye to the Canadians’ fans in an emotional letter after his release from the Toronto Raptors. The coach thanked the 61-year-old and the team for their great support.

“I would like to thank the basketball fans in the city and across Canada who have supported the Raptors and welcomed my family with open arms over the seven years,” Casey wrote.

“Thanks to all the fans who cheered us on at the Air Canada Centre while we built this organization into a playoff contender. I would also like to thank the fans who passionately supported us in Jurassic Park and at home in front of the TV.”

Casey was fired after another sweep against Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round, although the Canadians had the best record in the East after the regular season.

Over seven years Casey had a record of 320-238 and won four divisional titles. In the past three seasons, the Raptors have always won at least 50 games, but always failed in the playoffs due to LeBron James and the Cavs.
