MLB: Yankees send Brandon Drury to the Minor Leagues

The New York Yankees have sent Infielder Brandon Drury to their Triple-A team in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. There he had successfully completed a rehab assignment as a result of a migraine and visual impairment and is fit again.

The Yankees had signed Drury with the Tampa Bay Rays of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the off-season via three-team-trade and planned with him as a regular-third-baseman. Accordingly, he started the season in the Bronx, but was placed on the 10-Day Disabled List after just seven games of headaches and blurred vision on April 7.

Instead of him, the Yankees brought rookie Miguel Andujar into the team, who has been convincing ever since. The 23-year-old beats .282 with three home runs and 14 RBI and is stuck for the moment.

Drury, on the other hand, had visited a specialist and recovered from his problems. During a 20-day rehab assignment that ended Monday, Drury beat in Triple-A.315 with two home runs and seven RBI in 67 plate appliances.

The move was made possible because Drury still has two minor league options left and can therefore be sent to the minor leagues without any problems.

The Yankees currently have 13 pitchers in the squad, leaving only room for three bankers. These are currently Catcher Austin Romine, Infielder Ronald Torreyes and First Baseman/Outfielder Tyler Austin.

All results of the night you will find in our new MLB Scoreboard.
