MLB: Nationals – Yankees: Doubleheader postponed to June

The quasi-double header between the Washington Nationals and New York Yankees, scheduled for Wednesday, has fallen into the water. Continuous rain again thwarted the teams’ plans. A new attempt will now be started in June.

After the match at Nationals Park was abandoned on Tuesday after only five and a half innings at 3:3 and was to be continued on Wednesday, the weather again did not allow the game. As a result, the game originally planned for Wednesday was cancelled.

A catch-up date has already been found, it will be 18 June. Then the first game is to be continued from 5 pm local time in the sixth inning. The second game is then scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.

Both teams are free on Thursday, but due to hotel problems and another event planned at Nationals Park, this was not an option.

For the Yankees, this means that they will have to play said doubleheader in the middle of a home series lasting nine games. On Sunday 17 June, they will welcome the Rays at Yankee Stadium and then catch up to Washington/D.C., whereupon they will fly back to New York to start a three-game series against the Mariners on 19 June.

In addition, the Yankees are already playing a complete double header for the Detroit Tigers on June 4 – a catch-up date from April.

Due to the unexpected days off, the pitching rotation also shifts. As a result, CC Sabathia will start the series in Kansas City on Friday, followed by Luis Severino on Saturday and Sonny Gray on Sunday.

Domingo German will be available as a relief, but will ideally start in Texas on Tuesday, while Masahiro Tanaka is scheduled to start in Arlington on Monday.

All results of the night you will find in our new MLB Scoreboard.
