Basketball: Euroleague: Doncic named MVP

Luka Doncic of Real Madrid has been elected MVP of the current Euroleague season. Previously, the 19-year-old had led the Royal League into the final.

Real won the semi-final of the Final Four against CSKA Moscow with 92:83 and will face Fenerbahce in the final on Sunday. Doncic played 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. He then accepted the MVP Award, which is chosen by fans and journalists, for the entire season.

Doncic is not surprisingly the youngest MVP ever in the history of the Euroleague. In 32 games he was in the Starting Five 16 times, with an average of 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

The Spanish finished the Regular Season in 5th place with a score of 19-11, and in the play-off quarter-finals they beat Panathinaikos in a best-of-five series to qualify for the ongoing Final Four in Belgrade.

Doncic has signed up for the NBA Draft 2018 and has a realistic chance of being drawn as a No.1 pick – if he does not withdraw from the Association’s withdrawal of talent after all.
