NHL: Las Vegas moves into Stanley Cup Finals one year after franchise launch

The Las Vegas Golden Knights have entered the NHL Stanley Cup Finals just one year after the franchise was founded. Coach Gerard Gallant’s team won game five of the best-of-seven series against the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 (1-1, 2-1). In the finals, the Golden Knights will face the winner of the Tampa Bay Lightning series against Washington Capitals (3-2).

The Golden Knights took the lead through Alex Tuch after six minutes. Winnipeg equalled Josh Morissey in the first quarter (18th) before Ryan Reaves pushed the decisive puck for Las Vegas in the second third.

The jets’ enormous final offensive was no longer enough to compensate. The jets were desperate for the defensive strength of the Golden Knights, who are in the Stanley Cup final in the first year of their franchise history.

Game six of the second semi-final series between Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals will be live on DAZN at 2am on Tuesday night.
