NFL: Jets traden Hackenberg to the Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have hired Christian Hackenberg of the New York Jets. In return, the jets receive a draft pick in the seventh round. This was announced by jet coach Todd Bowles on Tuesday.

A few hours before the change became known, Hackenberg criticized the trainer team of the jets for its unsatisfactory development. In his two years in New York, he failed to live up to expectations.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden expressed himself positively about Hackenberg already in 2016 during his time as an expert at ESPN.

“Just what he showed in the first year before Penn State changed coaches and systems would be enough for me to want him. He just has to play with the right people in the right system and concentrate again on the small details,” said Gruden back then.
