MLB: Ohtani’s next start is fixed

Shohei Ohtani will compete as a pitcher against the Detroit Tigers in the Motor City on Wednesday. Originally the Japanese should have pitched last Sunday.

Manager Mike Scioscia announced this decision on Tuesday. Ohtani’s start against the New York Yankees on Sunday had the Angels already cancelled early and justified it with stress management.

Ohtani is a two-way player and starts as a designated hitter when not on the mouth. Up to now, however, the Angels had him pause one day before and one day after a start.

Ohtani had his last start on 20 May. The 23-year-old is 4-1 with a 3.35 ERA. Meanwhile, at the record he beats .291 with six home runs and 20 RBI.

All results of the night you will find in our new MLB Scoreboard.
