NBA: Will LeBron stay with the Cavs? Gilbert looks at the finals first

Although the Cleveland Cavaliers are in the finals, there is already much speculation about the future of superstar LeBron James. Now Cavalier’s owner Dan Gilbert commented on the subject.

Gilbert and James are said to have a very bad relationship, which is one of the reasons why many expect the fourfold MVP to say goodbye again. James has a player option for the coming season, but he will hardly draw it. However, Gilbert told ESPN that they were not concentrating on that at the moment.

“Like him, we’re just focused – and that’s the truth, I’m not dodging the question – on what’s happening in the present,” Gilbert said. “It’s so intense in the playoffs and now the finals, I don’t think any of us talk about anything other than what’s right in front of us. I know he does.”

So the owner of Cavs wants to wait for the finals to start on Friday night in Oakland (Fri, 3am on DAZN): “Everyone knows what we’re hoping for, of course, and we’ll wait for the finals and see what happens next”.

After the Cavaliers eliminated Boston in seven games and then passed Gilbert on the court without looking at him, speculation was fuelled again that the two are still not green after James left the Cavaliers in 2010 and Gilbert published an open letter in which he harshly criticized James.

In view of the Cavaliers’ turbulent season, Gilbert was all the more pleased that his team was in the finals for the fourth time in a row: “It’s incredible. Of all the successes in the Eastern Conference, this is a special one and for me the best. When you experience so many challenges over the year and still end up with them, it’s really something special.”
