NFL: Giants General Manager Gettleman suffers from lymph gland cancer

Dave Gettleman has lymph gland cancer. This was announced by the General Manager of the New York Giants in a statement of the franchise on Tuesday.

“I recently underwent an annual screening that revealed that I have lymph gland cancer,” Gettleman is quoted in the Giants press release. Last week he underwent further tests and treatment will begin in the “very near future”.

“The doctors’ prognosis is positive, so so am I,” added Gettleman, who is entering his first season as General Manager of the Giants. He will work as long and as often as the treatment allows and come back in full possession of his powers.

Gettleman returned to the Giants in December 2017 after four years as General Manager of the Carolina Panthers. He previously held various positions in New York for 15 years, including management analyst.
