NBA: LeBron on Game 1: “Those damn cameras”

LeBron James has commented on what happened during the dramatic first game of the final. He reacted with humor to a video that had gone viral with his reaction to JR Smith’s faux pas.

In this video you can see how LeBron reacted after the regular time when he learned that the Cavaliers still had some time off. “That went viral,” asked an astonished James in the round of reporters.

“Those damn cameras,” he added with a smile. “I honestly haven’t seen it yet because I’m not on social media right now.”

James also emphasized that he had long since checked Game 1, but for the questioners he still remembered the action when Smith, after an offensive rebound 4 seconds before the end, had not thrown, but dribbled down time.

James himself tried to call a timeout in time – but “I must have been so shocked by what happened that I didn’t make it in time”.

On his way to the bank he wasn’t sure if his team would have had any time off at all. “I was glad the refs didn’t respond to me – I was afraid of a Chris Webber situation.”

When he found out about the timeout that had indeed remained, he was disappointed by the missed chance to have a good posession for a game winner. “That was a heartbreaking defeat.”
