NBA: Media: Pelicans extend with Coach Gentry

New Orleans Pelicans have reportedly renewed Head Coach Alvin Gentry’s contract. He will therefore remain in Nola until 2021.

This is reported by ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski. The franchise had extended Gentry’s working paper for two years until 2021. Prior to that, General Manager Dell Demps had already taken the team option for the 2018/19 season at Gentry.

Gentry has been on the sideline of the Pels since 2015. In their first two seasons, the team missed the playoffs, but now they had made their breakthrough. The Pelicans finished the Regular Season in 6th place with a 48-34 balance, sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers in the first playoff round, but then retired against the Golden State Warriors.
