NFL: Seahawks: Earl Thomas announces Holdout

Earl Thomas will not participate in the Seattle Seahawks minicamp, contrary to Head Coach Pete Carroll’s expectations. Instead, the Safety announced a holdout and is forcing a new contract.

“I will not attend the upcoming minicamp or any other team meetings until my contractual situation has been clarified,” Thomas wrote on Twitter.

The 29-year-old enters the last season of his contract, which guarantees him 8.5 million dollars. Thomas didn’t show up for the off-season workouts in April and there were rumours about a trade.

However, he stressed that he wanted to stay with the Seahawks “until the end of his career”, but after eight years in Seattle demanded a proper handling of the situation.

Despite his absence from the training camp, Thomas will be ready for the upcoming season, Thomas wrote: “I will continue to train so that I can join the team at any time”.
