All weekend there were rumours about a possible trade by Rob Gronkowski – but they apparently came into circulation without any confirmation or source. The tight end of the New England Patriots now also spoke up for themselves.
Gronkowski made a brief and concise statement to the Boston Herald with regard to the trade rumours: “Fake News”.
It’s the next chapter of a news-filled offseason around the tight end. Gronkowski had openly admitted immediately after the Super Bowl that he was thinking about prematurely ending his career – only at the end of April did he announce that he would continue.
He then did not come to the voluntary part of the workouts and finally confirmed that both sides are working on a new deal: “We’re trying to get it right. The current contract of the 29-year-old runs until 2019 inclusive, with a basic salary of eight (2018) and nine (2019) million dollars.
He was present again at the first obligatory sessions – the other voluntary training sessions this week will probably be cancelled again. When asked if he would be seen training this week, Gronk replied: “I don’t know. That depends where you are.”
