NBA: Draft: Bonga stays in – two Germans pull back

Isaac Bonga has missed the deadline and remains registered for the NBA draft. Along with Moritz Wagner, he is the German player with the best chances.

Shams Charania (Yahoo! Sports) reported on Monday that Bonga has decided not to withdraw his name. Until June 11, international players had had the opportunity – Karim Jallow (Munich) and Louis Olinde (Bamberg) took it.

Bonga, however, stayed in and will be the youngest player in the entire draft. The 18-year-old point guard of the Fraport Skyliners is said to have a good chance of being penalized at least in the second round. In ESPN’s last mock draft, he is ranked 49th and could end up in the Spurs.

Last season Bonga played 5.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game for Frankfurt in just under 22 minutes. Due to his size (2.05 metres) and his athleticism, his potential as a defender in particular is considered to be very great.
